Local emissivity in extended states

GaAs(110)

Photocurrent from selected bonds

The photocurrents from selected spatial areas are calculated for the full hemisphere with the polar angle of 90° at the border of the spheres, Ein = -4.0 eV and Efin = 17.0 eV. The black lines show the Brillouin zones. The color table is valid for all partial currents but different from that used for the total current in the top left image (there: low=black-green-red-violet-white=high). The pictograms indicate the considered regions. Black are atoms and bonds, the blue shading gives the considered areas. The vacuum begins above the surface atoms depicted in the pictograms. Two bonding zigzag chains dominate the shown photocurrent pattern.

Full hemisphere patterns can be dominated by electrons from distinct bonds.
